Mongena Private Game Lodge is easily accessible via tarred road, or arrive by air on Mongena’s owns private tarred airstrip. Shuttles at additional costs can be arranged to and from all major cities and airports. Lions, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard roam freely in the 18,500 ha game reserve making it a truly big five game reserve within the borders of the Gauteng province.

Bush Safari & Game Drives

The 4-star Lodge offers a Big 5 bush safari and is a favourite for local and international guests who wish to see the Big 5 on a Game Drive or bush walk. Lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, cheetah, zebra, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, all antelope species, warthogs, aardvark, brown hyena, aardwolf and splendid birdwatching makes for excellent game viewing in the distinctive African bush.

No own vehicles are allowed on the roads of Mongena Private Game Lodge except access from the main gate to the main camp.

Accommodation In Mongena Private Game Lodge

Mongena Private Game Lodge offers accommodation in 24 air-conditioned en suite rooms (single, double/twin or family accommodation) positioned in beautiful indigenous landscaped gardens accommodating a total of 60 guests in sharing accommodation close to Pretoria. Each unit has a shower, coffee/tea making facilities, room safe, hairdryer, flat screen television set with satellite TV programmes and a room turn-down service at night. 6 of the 18 twin rooms and all 6 family rooms offer a bathroom with bathtub and shower. All chalets are well positioned amidst rolling lawns and indigenous landscaping in close proximity to the Tshukudu breakfast restaurant, Kingfisher a la carte Restaurant, pool and Tshukudu bar area. The tame Zebra’s, Nyala’s and Springbucks residing in the main camp are delighting all guests with their presence and have become a favourite trademark of Mongena. The lodge also has a wheelchair friendly twin room with a paraplegic bathroom facility. Wifi is available at certain hotspots around the lodge.

Baby cots are available and baby feeding chairs are provided in the dining areas.

Sunset Cruise And Fish Eagle Boathouse Function Venue

Board the luxury boat for a sunset cruise and watch the sky turn to a romantic purple-blue whilst listening to the African Fish Eagle’s cry. Our boat docks at the Fish Eagle Boathouse Boma situated a mere 10-minutes drive from the main camp – an ideal venue for that special conference dinner, product launch, themed evening, spit braai birthday party, wedding or any group function with the upper deck providing breathtaking views over the indigenous bushveld.

Tariff for the sunset cruise includes snacks consisting of dry wors/biltong, potato crisps, nuts and dried fruit and 1 x standard choice of soft drink, beer, house wine, cider, juice or water per adult/child. Additional drinks are available and will be billed afterwards. Champagne and spirits are optional billable items and need to be pre-ordered at least 1-hour before departure.

The dam and its adjoining wetlands lend themselves to splendid bird watching. Over 280 species have been recorded on the reserve – we invite you to come and find your ‘life’.

Accommodation Wildways Bush Camp (Self-Catering)

Wildways is a serviced, self-catering bush camp situated in the Pride of Africa conservancy a mere 40kms north of Pretoria in the approximately 21 000 hectare free-roaming big 5 Dinokeng Game Reserve 4 km’s from Mongena, sleeping a total of 20 guests in shared accommodation.

The camp consists of three fully furnished, serviced 2 bedroom self-catering chalets and a separate cluster of 4 bedrooms named Weaver’s Nest with its own communal kitchen, lapa and meeting room.

Each chalet comprises of two bedrooms (to be made up as single or double bed) with built-in cupboard, ceiling fans, two bathrooms with towels and hot running water, a comfortable lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook, stove and oven, microwave oven, fridge with freezer compartment, double sink, kettle, cutlery, crockery and braai utensils. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. Each chalet has it’s own private lapa and braai area. Meals can be enjoyed next to the fire under the stars, or on a large shaded furnished veranda with a bench table.

3 SELF CATERING CHALETS – maximum of 12 guests
Each chalet comprises of two bedrooms (to be made up as single or double bed) with built-in cupboard, ceiling fans, two bathrooms with towels and hot running water, a comfortable lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook, stove and oven, microwave oven, fridge with freezer compartment, double sink, kettle, cutlery, crockery and braai utensils. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. Each chalet has it’s own private lapa and braai area. Meals can be enjoyed next to the fire under the stars, or on a large shaded furnished veranda with a bench table.

WEAVER’S NEST 04 x Twin rooms, maximum of 8 people
Consists of a cluster of 4 twin rooms each having two single beds, a ceiling fan, built-in cupboard space, dressing table, coffee & tea station with kettle and an en-suite shower and toilet. Weavers nest must be booked as a unit with a minimum amount per night. The verandah outside each room features a bench table for individual dinners. Meals can be prepared in the communal kitchen with a large dining table. The fully equipped Kitchen comprises of one standalone fridge, upright freezer, stove and oven, microwave, double sink. Weavers nest has access to a conference room as well as a private braai lapa.

CENTRAL ENTERTAINMENT AREA
This area boasts a lounge with satellite television, a library and games room with a splash pool. Communal playground services the needs of the little guests. Limited undercover parking is available. Wood and firelighters are available on-site at extra costs. Walks and cycle ride on communal roads can be undertaken in the fenced area of the camp where antelope and zebras roam.
